More Than Diversity Film + Conversation Series: Rethinking Public Safety

Free and open to the public. Register here.

In discussions about Rethinking Public Safety, who defines safety, whose understanding of safety is prioritized, and how do these assumptions guide policy?

In conjunction with the More Than Diversity campaign, join us to watch short films that explore danger and safety from multiple perspectives, followed by a panel discussion with representatives from community and campus organizations, that grounds the conversation in local work on policing and its relationship to UChicago and surrounding neighborhoods.

This event is the first in a series exploring More Than Diversity campaign areas, and is co-organized by the Center for the Study of Race, Politics and Culture, #MoreThanDiversity, and Arts + Public Life.

What does existing research and experience tell us about UCPD, and how can we imagine a future where safety and belonging extend to people beyond the boundaries of academia?
